Writer's Block

Published on 4 July 2021 at 12:00

Sometimes I have hours, days, weeks, and in one case a month where I was stuck. Just plain, unadulterated, stuck. Unable to actually get my brain to do what I need it to. I felt creatively stuck, like I just could not continue what I was working on. Not only that, but I was also unable to productively edit, do revisions, or complete development.

It actually took a friend of mine who is a screen writer to help me. The key to me getting out of my blockage was to read. It was that simple. Reading someone else’s work, excellent work at that, was exactly what I needed to get my creative juices flowing again. I started with development of expanding my current novel (“Discoveries”) into a series. When I had my friend review the development and outline, he voiced that this novel screamed five-part series. He was right. I was able to develop the next three releases in the series.

I wrote all of this to say that inspiration can come at a moment's notice and from an unexpected space. Keep writing, stay focused, and Onward & Upward!

Thanks for reading,

TJ
